2010 Clinics

Session I  10:00am-11:00am 
   The Beginning Guitarist with Joel Golden 
This clinic targets guitarists who view themselves as "beginners."  Students will start with a brief history of the guitar and an overview of various guitar styles and the iconic guitars that accompany each style.  Students will also learn fundamentals of music and how they relate to guitar.  Students will also learn basic scales, simple melodies, harmony & chords.
 
  Finger Lickin' Chickin' Pickin' with Bob Hartle
 
Bob Hartle is a seasoned veteran in the art of guitar.  With telecaster in hand, he will demonstrate his brand of guitar playing which he describes as “chickin’ pickin.”  This is a must see clinic for all guitarists as he will discuss his style of playing along with using a “B Bender,’ equipment and how to “chicken pick.”  (Please note that no chickens will be harmed during this clinic!!!) 
 
Session II  11:15am-12:15pm 
  Bass From the Bottom with Don Vought
Get beyond playing only root notes.  Learn the basics of creating and playing a melodic bass line with any chord progression for any style of music.  Gain the confidence you need to play more creatively.  Student handouts will be provided.  Bring your bass!
 
   Fingers In Flight: The Guitar Mastery of David Myslewski with David Myslewski
 
How often does one get to study with a legend?  That is what students get when they study the style of Generations Guitar Society's Hall of Fame Member David Myslewski (a legend, that is).  Fingers in Flight will cover both plectrum and finger styles, this clinic focuses on the correct form for both styles, enabling participants to create the best tone and playing facility. 
 Session III  1:15-2:15pm
   Gear Up with Kira Leck
Thanks to globalization and technological improvements, musicians now have more affordable equipment choices than ever before. However, the abundance of available gear can also make shopping an overwhelming experience. This workshop will cover purchasing guitars, effects, amplifiers, and computer software that fit your playing style, ability, and budget.
   Understanding the MIDI Mystery with Joel Anderson
 
This clinic is intended for students who already play guitar and want to write and arrange their own music by using computer technology. This is the perfect class for students who wish to try something new and gain a better understanding of a guitar interface with the computer. Learn how to use a computer and turn it into a powerful musical tool for practicing, composing, songwriting and jamming by using real-time recording. Students will be able to play a guitar with a Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) and see their music appear on the computer monitor.
 Master Class 3:00-4:30pm 
   Bobby Brewer
is an established musician in not only the Jazz community, but is also a skilled rock, blues and country musician.  During his clinic, Bobby will discuss recent success with his band, The Reese Project, the current state of the music business and demonstrate material from a variety of sources.  Oh... he'll also play his guitar!!!
